Kubuntu 21.10 won't boot properly after switching GPU drivers

I switched from running nouveau drivers to nvidia drivers recently due to some dependencies, and it worked for a while but it's not booting properly anymore. Initially, what happened was it gave me a message that said the nvidia driver I had installed didn't support my GPU (my computer has a GeForce GTX470, at the time was running nvidia-driver-510) so I purged the broken driver and replaced it with nvidia-driver-390. Now, on boot, it gives me a blank screen with the cursor. I've tried purging the nvidia drivers again and switching back to nouveau, but when I do that, it freezes on the boot screen. I've been trying to find a solution for the past week now, and nothing has worked thus far.
